Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (or CSR) is the continuing commitment by businesses to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large.

TREE 4 U

Tree 4U is an initiative that is managed by the Ambjent Malta. The scope of this initiative is to increase the plant biodiversity of our islands through the sponsorship of trees and shrubs by members of the public, organised groups, as well as private and public entities.

We support our local flora and fauna

In days gone by, the Maltese Islands offered an abundance of trees and little woodlands. In a country where temperatures are high and the climate is dry, natural resources are limited. During times of hardship (WW1 and WW2 for example)  most of the forestation was cut down in a desperate case of trying to survive.  Nowadays woodlands suffer due to construction and agriculture.

Our commitment to off-set the carbon emission of our clients flying to Malta is, that we will plant 1 tree for every 100 guests we coordinate to Malta and Gozo.

The cost of sponsoring a tree or shrub is 12 Euro per unit. This covers the cost of the plant as well as planting and watering. The tree and shrub species will be indigenous to the Maltese Islands and planted in areas managed and maintained by Ambjent Malta.

We will ask you, our traveler, if you too would like to sponsor a shade and oxygen creating tree for the price of a kid's meal.  Corporate companies and groups can sponsor larger number of trees/shrubs as per their own company's CSR commitment and can, against a small fee, request a commemorative aluminium tag or plaque to be placed with the planted trees/shrubs.
Planting is carried out between October and March and the plant species are selected by Ambjent Malta in accordance with the environmental conditions of the area that is to be planted.  The sizes of the plants that are sponsored will depend on the plant species that are selected by Ambjent Malta. Height may vary between 20cm to 1m.
We will keep track of all planting by updating our blog section with the date and time of planting together with some pictures.
