Malta and Gozo, located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea are small popular travel destinations, known for their warm climate and breathtaking landscapes that frequently serve as locations for major film productions. The archipelago is home to some of the oldest temples in the world, such as the Megalithic Temples of Malta and has wide and rich multi-cultural historic influences.
Located at the crossroads of European, African and Middle Eastern culture, the Island’s society was moulded by foreign rule including the Phoenicians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs, Normans, the Knights who came from various areas of old-Europe as well as the French and the British. Malta has been an independent state since 21 September 1964, and a Republic since 13 December 1974.
With over 300 days of sunshine, Malta’s climate is mild, with stable temperatures of 12-15 degrees during the relatively short winter only having occasional showers (Dec-Mar), making it the ideal time to undertake activities. In the summer, with hardly any rainfall, the temperatures can go up into the 30's for July/August and whilst from mid September the temperatures drop slowly again to about 20's in November.
Maltese and English are the official languages of Malta making it easy to communicate for most guests visiting the Islands whilst the older generation also speaks Italian. The Maltese Islands are only a short flight away from most European destinations and therefore the perfect get-away, be it for a weekend or longer.
All year round the Islands offer a wide variety of activities from the Firework Festival around end of April to the Summer Festas, the Valletta Baroque Festival at the start of the year or the Jazz Festival in the Summer. For the youngsters there is the Glitch Festival, Earth Garden and the longstanding Isle of MTV in July.
The past years Malta has become the leader in LGTBQ / Rainbow Travel. Reaching the top spot in the European Rainbow Index for most of the past 5 to 8 years, it has opened its arms widely and created a safe-haven in all the different levels of daily living as well as tourism. The destination no only allows same-sex marriage but also adoptions.
